Kara Knickerbocker is an internationally published writer and world traveler from Saegertown, Pennsylvania and the author of the chapbooks The Shedding Before the Swell (dancing girl press, 2018) and Next to Everything that is Breakable (Finishing Line Press, 2017). She earned her BA in English from Westminster College in 2012 and her MFA at Carlow University/Trinity College Dublin. Her poetry and essays appeared in or are forthcoming from: Poet Lore, Construction, Portland Review, Ink in Thirds, Great Lakes Review, and the anthologies Voices from the Attic, Crack the Spine, Pennsylvania’s Best Emerging Poets, and Dostoyevsky Wannabe Cities: Pittsburgh Anthology, among others. Her poetry collections won first place in their category at both the 2016 and 2017 Sigma Tau Delta International English Convention. She was a finalist for the 2017 Enchanted Travels Travel Writing Award and was shortlisted for the I Must Be Off! Travel Writing Award. Knickerbocker currently lives in Pittsburgh, where she writes with the Madwomen in the Attic at Carlow University, and co-curates the MadFridays Reading Series.
